The State Treasurer's Office administers the unclaimed property program.  The law creating the program was passed in 1971, and the office has records for accounts dating back to the 1940s in some cases.  The property is intangible only: dormant bank accounts, uncashed paychecks, unclaimed insurance settlements, etc.  No real property (land, vehicles, etc.) is administered by the program.  To see if you have unclaimed property, use the Palmetto Payback search on the Treasurer's website.  You may also contact the office at (803) 737-4771 or write to the following address.
